Fingerless Gloves

My new obsession are fingerless gloves.
I fought with myself for several years because I did not want to make fingerless gloves to sell at my vendor events. It seemed as if everyone was selling the fingerless gloves. I wanted to be different and set myself apart from everyone. My vending business was going well. I was making money at every event. My hats and scarves would sell really fast in the winter.
Then one day someone asked if I sold fingerless gloves. I told them I did not. That customer walked away and thought that was the end of that. Five minutes later another customer walked up an asked if I sold fingerless gloves. I could not understand what was going on. Then my daughter, Staci who is a college student and was helping that day, turned around and asked me why I didn't sell fingerless gloves. I explained to her my reasoning about being set apart from the rest. Staci looked at me and said "mom, you are set apart from the rest, at least at this event. No one is selling fingerless gloves and we are at a college event. College students like to wear fingerless gloves, including me".
Wow, my daughter just educated me. She is a student at The University of Delaware. We live very close to campus and I participate in their events often. The college student really like my designs and buy from me often.
That day I decided to make a few fingerless gloves to sell. I believe I made around 8 pair. I sold out of the gloves at the very next event I participated in.
I learned that day, that it is okay to make similar items as other designers.  The key is to put my own stamp on my designs.
That was one year ago. I have been making fingerless gloves like crazy. To date they are my biggest sellers. I have never looked back.
Don't be afraid to step out of your box and be the best you that you can be.
I wish you much success in life and business.
Please leave comments. I would love to hear from you.

Snow Pics

The snow outside my house. Looks like 10".

Feeling The Cold

It is snowing in Newark, Delaware today.
The weather man has called for 5 to 10 inches.
I am really feeling the cold right now.
It is a really good day to drink hot chocolate and crochet.
So, that is what I am going to do.

I am going to sit back in my comfortable chair and work on a few wallets and hand bags.

I wonder what others do in this kind of weather.

Please post pictures of your neighborhood, projects or photos of family.

I would love to hear from new readers.

Thank you for stopping by.

Slipper Comfort

I like my feet to be comfortable. I can wear socks all winter long. When I walk around the house I like my feet warm and toasty. Slippers are just as comfortable as socks. They slip on easily, especially if you have to get up and go really fast. My husband also likes to wear slippers. He doesn't like to wear socks or anything on his feet when he is sleeping, but he likes to walk around the house in a comfortable pair of slippers.
I have a hard time finding slipper that I like in my size. I am a size 10 women. I also don't like many colors I find in the stores. When I design my own slippers I can have the color and styles I like.
My husband has very large feet, size 14 men. He loves the custom pairs I make for him. I think it is cool of him to support my work.
Here are a few of my new slippers I have designed. They were fun to make.

Find yourself a great pair of slippers, they will make your day comfortable.
Contact me if you would like me to make your feet as comfortable as mine.
Have a great day!

Be Passionate

Be passionate about your your work. Do not compare yourself to others. You are unique. Many people crochet and knit, but no one else can do what you do.
If you only crochet hats, that is okay. Do not worry if your hat looks like Joan or Pam's. If you want to be different, add buttons, ribbons, flowers or rims. You can use bright colors as your signature, perhaps neon.
When I crochet, I usually work from my heart. I sit down at start working on a project. I choose my colors based upon how I feel. Then I sit down in a comfortable chair, turn on some really good music, and just start to create.
The next time you start a project, think about your mood, imagine the colors and style you want to create. Find a nice comfortable chair and just go for it.
Be original!

Yoga Bags

These are pictures of  yoga bags I designed.
I took the measurements from my yoga mat and converted them to design these great bags.
I do not us patterns, that sometimes requires me to start over again until I get a project just right.

I can provide instructions or patterns if you are interested.
Make crochet fun.

Thanks for reading my blog.
Have a creative day!
